Power Tour East 1999Welcome to my tribute to the greatest road trip on earth... Hot Rod Magazine's Power Tour East 1999.

The car I drove was a 1980 RX-7 with a 460 Ford big block. I call it "RX-7 Liter". |

Best day:
One of the benefits of having a cool car is the ocassional photo opportunities.

After two days on the tour, I started to realize that I was going to be around more cars than I could possibly look at, so I slowed my pace visiting car to car, and I started to meet some of the other owners. I thought cars were the main attraction at car shows, but at Power Tour, I learned that the people who build and drive them are equally fascinating too.
Here are some photos of a few people I met during the trip. I missed pictures of
Ernie and his black '55 Chevy from Virginia plus about 250 other folks on the long haul.

Mason Armstrong driving the lead van. Side effects: It was hard to break the habit of looking for the lead van... and I felt that I needed to be "at the first gas stop" for the next few days. Another thing I picked up on the tour was the habit of cleaning the car daily. Here, I share the new concept with my Daughter, Ashleigh. |
