Welcome to my tribute to the greatest road trip on earth...

RX-7 Liter in Panama City
The car I drove was a 1980 RX-7 with a 460 Ford big block. I call it "RX-7 Liter".

Best day:
Drove from Fort Mill, S.C. to Daytona Beach, ran the car on a chassis dyno, ate free Bar-B-Q, hung out with a group of cool guys and had a brief photo shoot with the wait staff at the local "Hooters" pub.

One of the benefits of having a cool car is the ocassional photo opportunities.

Other highlights:
o Got to spend 3 days with my family on the return trip.
o My car made the 3,400 mile trek under its own power at 14 mpg.
o Cool bands sponsored by Flowmaster . . . Great job on the entertainment !
o Drove with show quality cars in the rain (then cleaned them daily for each show)
o Hurricane Irene just missed us in Florida, as we headed east to Panama City.
o Met many people sharing my interest in high performance autos (regardless of brand).

We hit the gas pumps regularly (and unleaded-ly...and premium-ly)

After two days on the tour, I started to realize that I was going to be around more cars than I could possibly look at, so I slowed my pace visiting car to car, and I started to meet some of the other owners.

I thought cars were the main attraction at car shows, but at Power Tour, I learned that the people who build and drive them are equally fascinating too.

Here are some photos of a few people I met during the trip. I missed pictures of Ernie and his black '55 Chevy from Virginia plus about 250 other folks on the long haul.

Side effects: It was hard to break the habit of looking for the lead van... and I felt that I needed to be "at the first gas stop" for the next few days.

Another thing I picked up on the tour was the habit of cleaning the car daily. Here, I share the new concept with my Daughter, Ashleigh.

There are more Power Tour photos in the RX-7Liter Photo Flipbook.

Please realize that these photos are a very small set of all that I took during the trip... I was so overwhelmed looking at other cars and meeting the proud owners, that I did not do the greatest job documenting the hundreds of cool cars and scenery of the different stops along the way.
