Former elections office director dead at 61
Mildred Garrison, 61 of Clarksburg, a former director of the Ross County Board of Elections, died at 1:10 A.M. Sunday at her home. She had been ill five months. Mrs. Garrison was appointed director May 1975 after the resignation of Guy H. Brown. At the time of her death, she was on leave of absence from the board.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home, New Holland, with the Rev. Michael Wright officiating. Danny Dodds, minister, will assist. Burial will follow in Brown's Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 P.M., Tuesday.
A native of Chillicothe, she was born Aug 24, 1917, to Howard and Carrie Watson Barrows. She was a member of the Clarksburg United Methodist Church and a past worthy patron of Purity Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, New Holland.
Mrs. Garrison served as director of volunteers at the old Chillicothe Hospital from 1967-1969. She also had been employed at the Mead Corp., had driven a school bus for the Adena district, had served as a precinct presiding judge for elections, and was a former county Republic club officeholder.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Garrison; a daughter, Mrs. John (Penny) Kindred, Largo Florida; a son, Keith Edwin Garrison, Chillicothe; a granddaughter; and two sisters, Mrs. Edwin (Muriel) Martin, Chillicothe, and Mrs. Charles (Miriam) Mader, Columbus. She was predeceased by a brother, a sister and her parents.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Ross County Unity of the American Cancer Society, 311 W. Water Street.

FAMILY PICNIC GIVEN AS FAREWELL GESTURE
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Garrison of Clarksburg entertained at a family picnic dinner at their home Sunday in honor of his sister, Mrs. Eloise Jones of Lynwood, California and his brother and family Mr. and Mrs. Richard Garrison and children, Myron and Janice. Mrs. Jones who has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Garrison the past week left Tuesday for California. She was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Garrison and family who expect to remain for an indefinite stay.
The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Garrison, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Crabb, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Crabb, and sons, Don and Kenneth; Mrs. Lawrence Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson and children, Jill and Cathy of Clarksburg, Mr. and Mrs. Emmitt Salt and children, Mike, Steve and Douglas, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Garrison and daughter, Deborah, Miss Lois Crabb of Chillicothe, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Crabb, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Garrison of Frankfort and Miss Ruth Crabb of New Holland.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Huffman of Commercial Point were additional guest in the afternoon.
