Raisin died on September 2, 1999. She was almost 14 years old. Raisin was buried at a very special place in a nearby state park where we would run on the trails. She loved to chase squirrels, rabbits, deer, and even wild turkeys there. Raisin died peacefully at home. We believe that she had a heart attack several days ago after chasing a cat. She was not herself after she collapsed. She remained a happy and good dog to her end.
Raisin was a wonderful companion and fine friend. She was loyal, friendly, and very bright. Her tail was always wagging. She was truly glad to see her family and friends. I could not have asked for a better dog.
I leave the following comments as they were written before her death:
Raisin is a very social dog and loves being
around people and other dogs - especially labs! They have a wonderful temperament and
truly make a great pet, friend, and companion. The only drawbacks are that they require a
lot of exercise and shed a lot. If you are considering a black lab, get a black carpet!

Normally labs are wonderful dogs... however sometimes they don't behave quite
like they should. One time, Raisin ate a pair of Dorothy's new eyeglasses
($$$)... Please note that labs LOVE to
eat and most of their crimes are food related. Raisin has always been a good eater. Raisin
is getting old now. She is going on 12 and feeling her age. She fell trying to walk up the
stairs recently... It is difficult watching her age.
Raisin loves eating, sleeping, eating, being with people and dogs, eating, playing, and
sleeping. Did I mention eating? Raisin LOVES pizza! She loves to lay down in the front
yard in the sun and watch the world go by.
