Greatness
is not in where we stand, but in what direction we are moving.
We must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it -
but sail we must, and not drift, nor lie at anchor.

Ten Strategies for Success
From Leadership at the Edge by Dennis N. T. Perkins, The Syncretics Group, 250 West Main St., Branford, CT 06405, 203.481.6118. We went to the presentation of Leadership at the Edge at Rensselaer at Hartford. It was one of the best lectures that I have ever attended.
Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.
Some people love to
lead
And some refuse to dance.
Some play it safely, other take a chance.
Still it's all a mystery
This place we call the world
Where most live as oysters
While some become pearls.
Jimmy Buffett
Be not afraid
of life. Believe that life is worth living, and your belief will help create the fact.
William James
In matters of style,
swim with the current; In matters of principle, stand like a rock.
Thomas Jefferson
There's this
perception that if you worry a lot and if you look really busy and stressed out
then you'll be more successful. You talk about how little sleep you get and how
tensed you are and how you're not getting the appreciation you deserve and how
hard you're working. You think this is somehow feeding into your success and
your career, and that's just not true. Any success that you have in your career
is despite your being all bothered and annoyed and stressed out -- not because
of it.
