On Teaching
Teaching is something that I enjoy. I still get a thrill at watching the Meet the PC students complete the course with such a great degree of confidence and knowledge.
The teacher who walks in the shadow of the temple, among his
followers,
gives not of his wisdom but rather of his faith and his lovingness.
If he is
indeed wise he does not bid you enter the house of wisdom,
but rather leads you to the
threshold of your own mind.
The
Prophet by Kahil Gibran
It's human-true - it hits me right:
Then will I count this loving toil well spent:
Then will I dream awhile - content, content.
To the Men of
the High North by Robert Service

There is a great
difference between knowing and understanding:
you can know a lot about something and not really understand it.

Where I teach...
Here are links to two of the colleges at which I teach. I am the PC Coordinator for Continuing Education at Manchester Community-Technical College where I teach a well-received introductory class called Meet the PC. At Northwestern Connecticut Community-Technical College, I teach a variety of continuing education classes focusing on Word, Access, and Excel.. Some of the other classes I've taught include courses on DOS, Windows, Lotus1-2-3, WordPro, QuickBooks, and Novell NetWare 3.1x.

The Classes
Here are the handouts for the classes that I teach.
Additional classes and exercise files will also be posted. I will be reviewing these and
making them more informative, self-explanatory, and usable on the Internet. Please email
me with any comments, corrections, criticisms or suggestions. It will take some time
before all the classes are formatted properly and adapted for the Internet even though
they look right in Word, so please be patient. I am also interested in including links to
other good tutorials or sites. Please email me if you know of one which I should include.
Thanks in advance...
