Here's a pic of most of the guts. On the left the backpack cd-rom sits on top of the removable harddrive. Below those are the power switch, leds, headphone&mic jacks and usb port, this mounts in the ashtray location. Josh at SBS constructed it so it would fit in place of the ashtray using the rails as guides to locate it and it could be removed easily. The powerswitch and leds are on a pcboard that was screwed into the cover the cpu. Carpc V1.0 had regular switches which were easily replaced. Upon purchasing the compaq i was fearfull when i saw the power switch mounted as such with a special plug connecting it to connectors on the motherboard. i was unable to decipher which wire had what function going to the motherboard. I was forced the lil pcboard powerswitch assembly and found a perfect button from an old radioshack game. This actually worked out a lil better and nicer. The headphone/mic jacks and usb port were mounted similarly, and the built in soundcard wouldn't function properly with out these connected(i ended up not using the onboard sound card but thought it was neat to have these function as well). A friend at work created rj-45(?) connectors so that i could use standard network cable to run up front so that i could easily remove the powerswitch assembly and reconnect it indoors easily. I thought this was a real cool idea, and then saw the amplifier used phone cord for it's subwoofer level knob. The Soundblaster Live is visible in the cpu (the tview pci card is missing).
